Blending family advice with our home renovation plans almost derailed the entire project
I mean, maybe it's just me, but when we started renovating our first home, we thought involving our siblings for design ideas would be fun. Idk, we didn't anticipate how their conflicting tastes would lead to constant revisions and budget overruns. My brother insisted on open shelving in the kitchen, while my sister pushed for custom cabinets, causing delays and heated debates. We ended up with a mishmash of styles that pleased no one and cost us extra in contractor fees. Looking back, we should have presented a unified vision to our family instead of seeking approval on every detail. If you're updating a property with relatives chiming in, designate one decision-maker to keep things on track. Their input can be valuable, but too many cooks definitely spoil the renovation broth.
