We're looking to build a log cabin on some land we bought in Montana. There are so many companies out there, but it's hard to tell who's reputable. Has anyone here worked with a log home builder they'd recommend? We're especially interested in companies that do prefab log cabin kits because we want to keep costs down. Thanks!

Log InI've heard good things about several companies, but it depends on your budget. We almost went with a big national brand but ended up going with a smaller local builder because they were more flexible with our floor plan. Make sure you get multiple quotes and check references. Also, ask about the log species they use and their drying process—that makes a big difference in longevity.
We built our cabin with Meadowlark Log Homes last year and couldn't be happier. They were really patient with all our custom changes and the kit arrived exactly as promised. Their crew even helped us find a local contractor for the assembly. Highly recommend them if you're looking for quality and good communication.
