PSA: Bluetooth speakers on hikes are just rude
I passed a group pumping club music from a backpack on a quiet forest trail. It shattered the peace and scared off wildlife. Do they not get that no one wants to hear their playlist?

Guilty of once blasting show tunes on a trail, sorry!

Show tunes on a trail actually sounds kind of fun, I gotta admit. I read this article last week about how even music you love can really mess with the quiet for other hikers and the animals. It stuck with me because I used to play podcasts out loud sometimes. Now I just keep one earbud in, which feels like a decent fix.

Yo, "blasting show tunes on a trail" is such a specific vibe. What was going through your head when you decided to do that? I'm lowkey torn because on one hand, it sounds fun, but on the other, I've been on the receiving end of someone's outdoor speaker and it ruins the peace. Did you get any looks from other hikers? I feel like trail etiquette is about respecting shared space, but also sometimes you just gotta live a little. Was it a solo hike or were you with people who were into it?
