PSA: I thought mood boards were a waste of time, but my project in Phoenix changed my mind

I had this branding gig for a local coffee shop and just started designing logos right away. My friend kept telling me to build a mood board first, which I ignored for two whole days. After hitting a wall, I finally made one using Milanote, pulling in colors from their shop and photos of the neighborhood. It totally focused the whole vibe and saved me from redoing everything. Anyone else find a tool or step they resisted that ended up being crucial?

Man, why do we always fight the process? I did the same thing with client questionnaires once.

Because we think we know better in the moment. I used to skip those forms too, until a project blew up from missing one dumb detail. Now I just do them first thing, even when it feels pointless. It's faster to just get the boring stuff out of the way than to fix the mess later.
