Changed my mind about using a single pane for that sunroom job
Had a client in Oak Park who wanted a big sunroom window replaced. They were set on a single pane to save cash, maybe $400 cheaper. I pushed for double glazed, said it was worth it. They went with the single. Winter hit, and the client called back last week complaining about a huge draft and condensation. Ended up replacing it with double glazed anyway, costing them more in the end. Anyone have a good way to explain the long-term cost to stubborn customers?

My buddy had the same thing happen with a patio door.

Yeah, that "save cash now" line gets them every time. I just show them my own heating bill from last winter, the one with the single pane window before I swapped it. The numbers don't lie, and it's harder to argue with a real piece of paper.

Man, this is like people buying the cheap boots that fall apart in a year. They spend more over time replacing them than if they just got the good pair once. I see it with everything, not just windows. Folks go for the low upfront cost without adding up what it really costs later. It's a false save, and it drives me nuts because you just know how it ends. They always pay twice.
