Update: That weird sand mix I tried on a small bronze pour actually worked
I was short on our usual facing sand for a small art piece, so I mixed in about 30% of the old floor sand we sweep up. The mold held perfectly and the surface finish came out with this cool, almost gritty texture the client loved. Has anyone else messed around with reclaimed sand blends for specific finishes?

I mean, that sounds risky to me. Floor sand could have oils or other junk in it that messes with the bind.
