PSA: Do not skip the sewer scope inspection, it saved me from a 15k repair bill

We were under contract on a house in Tacoma last month and everything looked great. Our realtor said a sewer scope was optional, but a friend told me to get one. I paid 250 dollars for the inspection and the guy found a full collapse in the main line under the driveway. The seller had no idea, and fixing it would have meant tearing up the concrete. We walked away from the deal, and I am so glad we did. That small fee showed us a huge hidden problem. Now I tell every new buyer to make it a must-do. Has anyone else had a sewer scope find something major?

Honestly that "must-do" advice feels like fear-mongering sometimes.

Always get the sewer scope, that cheap fee finds nightmares.

Maybe @drew_reed62, but that's a lot of money for a maybe.
