Question about paying off a credit card by switching the due date

I moved my payment date to right after payday and it stopped the late fees, but my friend says it just hides the problem. Has anyone else tried this?

Isn't it funny how people act like any simple fix is just "hiding the problem"? If your car has a flat tire, you put on the spare to get home, you don't just stare at it. Moving your due date is a tool that works, and it builds the habit of paying on time. Your friend might be overthinking it.

Moving a due date can help avoid late fees (which is a win), but it's not quite the same as building the habit of paying on time. You still have to actually pay the bill, just on a different day. The spare tire gets you home, but you still need to fix the flat.

The spare tire thing is a good point. But if you keep driving on the spare forever, you're gonna have a bad time. Moving the date is a good first step, but you gotta check your budget too. It's not hiding the problem, it's just moving the goalpost to a better spot on the field.
