My buddy told me to buy a specific stock right before it tanked
He works at a bank in Charlotte and said to grab shares of this tech company last month. I put in $2,000 thinking it was a solid tip. The stock dropped 25% in two weeks after their earnings report was bad. Now I'm not sure if I should hold it or just take the loss. Has anyone else had a friend's hot stock tip go really wrong?

My cousin in Raleigh gave me a tip on a biotech stock last year. I dropped a grand on it and it fell off a cliff after some bad trial news. Sat on it for six months hoping it would bounce back, but finally sold at a loss. That kind of sting makes you second guess every tip after that.

My buddy's Raleigh tip actually paid off big on a solar stock last quarter. Sometimes you just get unlucky timing like with your biotech or claire_hart53's car lot. I'd still listen to a tip if the person really knows their stuff.

Remember my uncle swore by this local car dealership stock, said it was a sure thing. Bought in and it just slowly bled out over a year, like @the_lee's biotech disaster. I finally sold it for scraps just to stop looking at the red number every day.
