Just wasted $300 on a budget accounting software that can't even handle basic budgeting

I went to a local small business expo in Austin last month and bought this cheap accounting software after the rep swore up and down it could do monthly forecasts. Turns out it can only track income and expenses, no planning tools at all. Has anyone else gotten burned by finance software that promised way more than it could actually do?

Did you actually look at what the software was built for before you bought it? Most of those budget programs under $300 are just glorified checkbook registers, not planning tools. @jennifer204 is right though - sometimes the manual actually spells out the limits. Look at Wave or even the free tier of Xero - they both push forecasting but only if you pay extra or use third party apps. You gotta dig into the fine print on these things, because a sales rep at a booth will say anything to move a unit. At least you didn't drop $800 on the fancy version that still can't handle inventory basics.

Did you actually try reading the manual before blaming the software for your own mistake?

Honestly @jennifer204, I read a review saying that manual was useless anyway.
