Showerthought: How my grandma's sauerkraut jar taught me about patience
I remember helping my mom make kimchi every fall. My siblings and I would all pitch in, getting our hands messy with cabbage and spices. These days, everyone's so busy with work and school, we just buy it from the store. My own kids have never seen the fermentation process, and I miss showing them. That old crock in the basement wasn't just for food; it was about learning to wait and trust the process. Does anyone else feel like we've lost some of that hands-on family time?

Nah, I kinda see it the other way. People are doing more hands on stuff now than when I was a kid, just different things. My feed is full of friends baking their own sourdough or trying to grow herbs on a balcony. The patience part is still there, it is just waiting for your bread to rise or a tomato to turn red instead of watching a crock. The tools changed, not the feeling.
