My brother-in-law said my sourdough starter was a waste of flour
He said it at a family dinner in Cincinnati last month, right after I explained how I keep it going. Has anyone else had to defend their starter to a skeptic?

Remember that guy on the news who tried to make bread with just yeast and water? He called it "prison loaf" and said it proved starters were a scam. My neighbor still brings it up every time he sees my jar.

Honestly it's just bread. People get so worked up over a jar of flour and water. My uncle says the same stuff but he buys his bread in a plastic bag.
