Just realized my whole approach to color palettes changed after a rainy day in Seattle
I was stuck sketching in a cafe near Pike Place Market, watching people's jackets and umbrellas blend together in the grey. That's when I saw this woman in a bright mustard yellow raincoat, and it just popped against all the concrete and navy blues. Do you guys ever get your best ideas from just watching regular street scenes?

Wait but isn't that just noticing stuff? Like it's cool but is it a whole new approach or just paying attention?

That mustard yellow raincoat moment is so real. I read an interview where a fashion designer said cities after rain have the best color stories because everything gets muted except the intentional pops. Like how a red bus looks crazy vivid on wet asphalt, or how neon signs bleed into puddles at night. It makes you notice what people choose to stand out.
