I was trying to fix a leaky faucet and flooded my kitchen floor
I was under the sink in my apartment, trying to replace a worn washer. I thought I had turned the water off, but I missed the second shutoff valve. When I took the faucet apart, a huge spray of water shot out and soaked everything. I had to scramble to find the main shutoff, which took about 90 seconds of pure panic. After mopping up, I realized I always rush into projects without double checking the basics. Has anyone else had a simple fix turn into a big mess because you skipped a step?

Honestly, that exact panic is why I started taking pictures with my phone before I touch anything. Took apart a garbage disposal once and forgot how the pieces fit back together. Spent two hours staring at parts on a towel because my dumb brain didn't record the starting point.

But is it really that big of a deal? It's just a garbage disposal, not a car engine. Most of those parts only fit together one way. I've put a few back together by just trying things until they clicked. Sure, pictures might save you some time, but calling it a panic seems a bit much. It's just a simple home fix.

Some of us don't have that kind of patience for trial and error. Pictures are a basic time saver.
