Appreciation post: I tried putting my phone in a drawer for an hour after dinner
I was just tired of mindlessly scrolling, so I set a timer and put it away in the kitchen junk drawer. I ended up reading a book I'd had on the shelf for months and felt way more relaxed. Has anyone else tried a simple rule like this to get a little quiet time back?

What kind of book did you end up reading? I've tried putting my phone in another room but always cave. An hour in a drawer feels more doable. Might have to steal this idea.

Oh, the drawer trick is key because you can still hear a buzz if it's urgent. I actually read a thriller, the kind where you have to know what happens next so you don't even think about your phone. @michael_jenkins39, putting it in another room leaves that nagging "what if" feeling. With the drawer, it's out of sight but not totally gone, which tricks your brain into letting go. Finished the last hundred pages in one sitting because I wasn't tempted to check notifications every five minutes.

My phone once spent three days in a junk drawer because I forgot about it after a reading binge. The drawer trick is the only way I can focus, because like @michael_jenkins39 said, another room just makes me anxious. My brain needs to know it's technically there, even if I can't see it. It's like a weird security blanket I'm trying to ignore. I get way more reading done now, even if I occasionally lose my phone for a weekend.
