A similar thing happened at my cousin's wedding. The cake table collapsed right before the cutting. Luckily, the top tier was saved and they used it for photos. Guests ate sheet cake from the bakery instead, and the baker had to rush over with a backup that was just vanilla.

Read a crazy story about a wedding cake disaster similar to this. The baker brought a plain vanilla backup and guests were honestly pissed. It's not just about having cake, it's about the whole wedding vibe. Vanilla can be so bland if it's not made with good stuff. I mean, people look forward to the cake all night sometimes. Having a letdown like that just sucks the fun out of the party, lol.
