Showerthought: I was torquing my lugs wrong for years until a guy in a Tacoma parking lot showed me his trick.

I was swapping a motor in a 1970s panel last week and my coworker asked why I was still using my old click-type torque wrench on the main lugs. He pulled out his digital one, set it to 50 ft-lbs, and showed me how the old one had been over-torquing by almost 20% for who knows how long. Anyone else have a go-to tool they realized they were using wrong?

My old beam wrench was off by 15 ft-lbs.

It's wild how many things we assume are accurate until they fail us. Makes you wonder what else is off by a little bit, right?
