Pro tip: Those cheap LED canless wafer lights are total junk after 18 months in my ceiling

I put a dozen of them in a kitchen remodel last year and half are already flickering or dead, and the supplier won't warranty them because the receipt got tossed has anyone else had these fail way faster than advertised?

The constant heat in a ceiling is brutal on those integrated LEDs because the heatsinks are basically fake on the cheap ones. Once the driver chips start cooking from the trapped heat, they're done for and there's no way to just swap out a bad bulb. Buying anything with a brand name that uses standard sockets is the only way to avoid this whole mess.

The heat thing makes sense but what about warranties? I mean I tossed the receipt too so I get that part, but some brands are doing these 5 year or even 10 year warranties now. Do you think that actually means anything with these cheap lights or is it just marketing fluff to make you feel better when you buy them? Idk maybe I'm wrong but it seems like even with a warranty they'd find some way to say it's your fault for installing them wrong or something.

Feel your pain. Total waste of money and time dealing with that nonsense.
