My cutterhead impeller locked up on a job in Mobile Bay Tuesday

Was pulling sand near the shipping channel when the suction dropped to nothing. Had to pull the whole assembly to find a chunk of old mooring line wrapped around the impeller shaft. Anybody else ever deal with debris jamming mid-dredge?

man that's rough, i got my cutterhead jammed up with a fishing net off the coast of galveston once, must have been a gill net because it was all tangled in the blades and took forever to cut out. took me half the day just to break it loose, and then i had to replace a seal that got cooked from the added friction. what gets me is how stubborn those mooring lines can be, all wrapped up tight like that, you'd think they'd just float away but nope they find every little gap to get into. hope you didn't have to pull too much off the assembly to get it cleaned up, that's always the worst part when you're already behind schedule.

Bet you wished that net had just stayed lost at sea instead of finding your cutterhead.

Did you ever find out whose net it was, @hart.sage?
