Saw a drafting table transform in 6 months - the difference was the chair
So I've been working from a friend's spare room for like 8 months now, using this old drafting table he had in storage. For the first 6 months I sat on a random dining chair. My back was killing me, my shoulders were getting tight, and I couldn't stay focused for more than an hour. Finally grabbed a real drafting stool off Craigslist last month, $40. Night and day. Now I can sit for 3-4 hours no problem. Anyone else had a simple fix like this totally change how you work?

Doubt it's that serious. A chair's a chair. You sat in it for 6 months and it worked fine until you decided it didn't.

So is your back actually better or did you just get used to a different angle? I tried a drafting stool once and it just felt like sitting on a barstool, my legs went numb after two hours. A cheap lumbar cushion from Walmart did more for my old office chair than any special stool ever did.
