Pro tip: Sketching on vellum before going digital taught me patience

When I first learned drafting, we used vellum and pencils on a light table. It forced me to plan every line because erasing was messy. That patience stuck with me when I switched to CAD years later. Now, with undo buttons everywhere, I still sketch things out on paper first. It keeps my designs grounded and avoids rushed mistakes.

My friend's drafting teacher made them use vellum and it did the same thing.

Yeah, @the_kim, vellum is actually made to not do that. It's a special drafting paper that's supposed to be stable. It doesn't soak up moisture from the air or your hand like regular paper, so it shouldn't warp or get wavy when you're drawing on it. Your friend's teacher probably used it so their ink lines wouldn't bleed or the paper wouldn't buckle. If it's doing "the same thing," they might have gotten a bad batch or it's not real vellum.

Even vellum can get wavy in a damp room, @the_kim. I've seen it happen before.
