Found a 1980s drafting manual at a yard sale last weekend

I was flipping through it and saw they recommended a specific type of vellum that cost about $2.50 a sheet back then. Adjusted for inflation, that's over $7 a sheet today. I pay less than a dollar for the basic stuff I use for quick sketches now. It's wild how much cheaper some materials have gotten, even if the fancy tools cost more. Makes you wonder what else we take for granted. What's the oldest piece of drafting advice you've ever come across that just doesn't apply anymore?

I used to think all that old advice was just outdated junk. Then I found a manual from the 50s that said to always use a special soap to clean your hands before touching drafting film. The idea was that skin oils would ruin it forever. Modern film doesn't care, but it made me realize how fussy and expensive the whole process used to be. We really do have it easy now.

Probably not worth losing sleep over.

Tell that to the people it actually affects. Some things are worth staying up for.
