Question about switching my whole tracking stack after an auditor laughed at my dashboard

I had a call last Tuesday with a media buyer who reviews analytics setups for a living. He spent 5 minutes looking at my GA4 dashboard and said 'this is pretty, but I cant tell what it actually does for your bottom line.' That stung. I was using 3 separate tools for clicks, heatmaps, and form fills, tons of overlap and no clear story. He told me to strip it down to one funnel view with revenue attached to every step. I tried it for 10 days and honestly the clarity is worth more than the extra data I lost. But now I wonder if I overcorrected and lost useful context. Has anyone else rebuilt their whole reporting around one metric after a critique like that, and did you regret cutting the extra tooling?

That line about not being able to tell what it does for your bottom line hit me too. I used to hoard every data point like it made me smarter, but after cutting my stack down to one funnel with revenue attached, I realized most of that extra context was just noise I was using to avoid making a call. Yeah I lost some detail on heatmaps and side metrics, but I never once missed them when I actually had to explain what was working and what wasn't.
