Found a simple trick for bleeding injectors solo

I spent most of Tuesday fighting a Cummins 8.3 that would not fire after a fuel filter swap. My usual method was cracking each line and cranking, but that took forever and made a mess. Then an old timer at the parts counter in Billings told me to crack the return line at the pump instead of the injector lines. I tried it on a hunch, and the air purged itself in about 20 seconds of cranking. No more spraying diesel all over the block, and no more guessing which cylinder was still dry. Has anyone else used this trick on a different engine, or is it just a Cummins thing?
