Finally swapped my old 3/8-inch drive impact for a 1/2-inch Milwaukee Fuel after struggling with a seized 2008 Duramax hub nut for an hour.
The extra torque made the job take about 30 seconds, but now I'm wondering if I should have just gone straight for a 3/4-inch drive for future heavy truck work.

Yeah but jumping to 3/4 inch feels like overkill for most people. @masongonzalez has a point about trying other tricks first, but that new gun is a solid middle ground. A 3/4 inch drive is huge, expensive, and honestly overkill unless you're doing heavy truck work every single day. The 1/2 inch Fuel you got will handle 99% of what a home garage or even a pro shop throws at it. Buying more tool than you need just means a heavier, more awkward gun for regular jobs.

I used to agree about the 3/4 inch being overkill, but fighting that hub nut changed my mind real fast.

Man, that hub nut fight sounds brutal lol. Did you try heat or a cheater bar before the new gun? I've been there with old truck fasteners, it's the worst. The 1/2 inch Fuel is a beast, but I get the 3/4 inch temptation for peace of mind.
