TIL you can turn 12 old t-shirts into a quilt for about $15 in supplies
I had a trash bag of old shirts sitting in my closet for almost two years because I felt bad tossing them but never wore them anymore. Last weekend I finally cut them into 12 inch squares, grabbed some backing fabric at Joann for $9, and used a spool of thread I already had. Sewed the rows together over two evenings while watching TV. It is lumpy and the corners do not all line up, but it is warm and it is mine. I counted and this thing used up 12 shirts that were just taking up space. My sister already asked if I would make her one from her old band tees. Has anyone else tried this, and did you use batting in the middle or just the shirt layers?
