Found a working rice cooker next to the dumpster at the park and it changed my kitchen setup
I was jogging through Riverside Park last Tuesday and spotted a 6-cup rice cooker sitting by the trash bins, still had the cord and a sticker from 2019. Took it home, scrubbed it down, and it cooked a perfect batch of jasmine rice on the first try. Anyone else ever grabbed something from a public spot and had it actually work out, or am I just lucky?

You ever find a slightly beat up bread maker at a yard sale for five bucks and have it turn out better than the fancy one you returned? I grabbed a table lamp from the curb last fall, cleaned the shade, and it's been my desk light ever since. Sometimes the trash really does hold some solid wins, so cheers to your free rice cooker.

Did you actually run any cleaning solution through the rice cooker before you cooked in it, or just wipe down the outside? Because I found a slow cooker once and the inside smelled like old curry no matter how many times I scrubbed it. The rice came out fine though, so maybe I was overthinking it.
