The self checkout at my Kroger in Toledo thinks a bag of limes is a grapefruit every single time
I stood there for 3 minutes last Tuesday while the screen flashed "unexpected item in bagging area" because it scanned my limes as a grapefruit and I guess a 4 cent difference is worth a full shutdown. The poor worker had to come over a third time and just typed in the code without even looking, which tells me this happens all day. I know it's the round shape plus the green, but grapefruit are like 3 times the size, so whoever trained this machine needs a field trip to the produce aisle. Does anyone else have a grocery item that breaks checkout every time, or is it just me and my limes?
Cannot believe the screen throws a fit over a 4 cent mix-up and shuts the whole line down. That part blows my mind more than the lime thing. The machine says "unexpected item" like you snuck a whole watermelon in your bag, and it's really just a little green fruit. My store's self checkout does the same thing with a single avocado, freezes up and blinks red until someone types the code. Workers there don't even look anymore, they just tap the screen like they're playing a game they've already beat.
