Heard a kid at the zoo say hippos sweat red, so I looked it up and now I can't shut up about it
Standing in line for the giraffe feeding at the Cleveland zoo last Saturday, this 8 year old behind me loudly informed his mom that hippos sweat red. I laughed. Then I got home and looked it up and he was right. They make this oily red stuff that works like sunscreen and germ killer. I've brought it up at dinner twice and my wife is done with me. The kid also said they can hold their breath for 5 minutes, which is only sort of true, but I'm not correcting an 8 year old who knows more than me. What's the weirdest true animal fact a kid dropped on you?
