Hot take: a guy at the Portland woodshop meetup said my dovetails looked chewed, so I ditched the saw
I brought three practice boards to the meetup on SE Division two weeks ago and Dave, an older guy who has been building for 30 years, looked at my pins and said my saw was wandering because I was gripping it too tight. I switched to a 14 dollar Japanese pull saw and started marking the waste side with a 0.5mm pencil, and my gaps went from a visible gap to almost nothing on the third try. Still fighting the baseline cut though, that one keeps drifting on me. Anyone got a way to hold the board steady without a fancy vise?
