TIL a dog's nose print is as unique as a human fingerprint
I was sitting on a bench in Riverside Park with my lab mix Otis and another dog walker pointed this out while we were both catching our breath. She said vets can actually use a dog's nose print to ID them, same idea as fingerprints, and no two are the same, even in the same litter. I went home and looked it up because honestly I figured she was messing with me. Sure enough it's a real thing, the pattern of ridges and creases on the nose leather is unique to each dog. I tried to get a clean look at Otis's nose after that walk and he just kept licking my hand and sneezing on me. Has anyone actually gotten a clear nose print off their dog, and how did you keep them still long enough?
