The off-leash trail in Redmond changed my whole stance on harnesses
After my husky slipped her collar chasing a squirrel by the lake last Tuesday, I spent 3 hours and $80 on a proper harness, but honestly the real fix was training her to check in every 20 feet, so now I tell every new owner to skip the fancy gear and work on recall first, has anyone else had a near miss that made them quit relying on equipment?

Did your husky at least come back after the squirrel chase? My buddy had a similar scare with his lab, he spent a fortune on a GPS collar and still had to hike two miles through the woods when the battery died. He now just brings a bag of hot dog bits and does the recall drill every single walk, gear is just backup for him now.
