Warning: the loudest guy on my 7:15 bus through Chicago is right and the quiet car people are wrong
Every morning I ride the 7:15 from the Logan Square stop and there's this older guy who talks on his phone the whole way, and everyone glares at him like he's ruining their lives. Last Tuesday some woman in a suit actually shushed him, and he just said into his phone "hold on, a lady here wants the bus to be a library" and kept going. Here's my take: we're all crammed 40 people deep for 35 minutes, and one voice is not the problem, the problem is pretending we're all alone. The quiet car thing works on trains where you bought a ticket for it, but a city bus is a public room. Anyone else think the shushing is way ruder than the talking?
