The day my train delay turned into a 4 hour detour mess

Back in 2019 I took the same 7:15 Amtrak from New Haven to Grand Central every weekday. One morning the rails had a signal issue near Stamford, so they stuck us on a bus that got stuck in I-95 traffic for nearly 3 hours. I figured I'd hop off at some random stop and grab an Uber, but my phone was at 4%. Spent another hour walking to a Starbucks to charge it before paying $60 for a ride that took 45 minutes. Total commute was like 4 hours and 15 minutes for what usually took 90 minutes. Has anyone else had a simple delay snowball into an all day thing?

That bus detour sounds like a nightmare, I heard Amtrak delays are getting worse lately.
