That hidden back road off Route 9 cut my commute by 12 minutes this week
I was stuck in the same traffic jam for three days straight near the old mill bridge in Greenfield until I spotted a gap in the fence that led to a service road nobody seems to know about, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has found weird local shortcuts that actually work?

Used to think shortcuts like that were just wishful thinking (or that they'd dump you out in some farmer's field), but you just changed my mind completely. That gap in the fence sounds like a lucky find, especially compared to sitting at the old mill bridge light for what feels like half your life. I've been burned by a few "secret" routes that ended up being dirt tracks with a locked gate at the end, so I get the hesitation. But 12 minutes saved every day adds up fast, makes me want to start scouting for my own hidden gaps on the way home.

@murphy.abby I've heard that sometimes those paths are actually old logging roads that never got taken out of the system. Saw a thread last week where someone found one that saved them 20 mins a day until the town finally blocked it off. Seems like a race against time once you find a good one.
