That 7 AM train ride last Thursday where a guy brought his pet parrot on board
I was half asleep on the 7:15 express into the city when this dude sits down across from me with a green parrot on his shoulder. The bird was quiet for about 10 minutes, then started squawking every time the conductor announced a stop. By the third stop, the parrot was mimicking the announcement perfectly, which got half the car laughing. The owner just sat there reading his phone like this was totally normal. Has anyone else had a weird animal encounter on public transit that made you question your whole morning?

Man I would have lost it if that parrot started doing the announcements. I once had a dude bring a full on snake on the bus and it was draped over his neck like a scarf. I was sitting there trying not to make eye contact with it while my brain was screaming "IS THAT A BOA ON THE 42??" Parrot guy at least sounds funny. The snake guy just smiled at me and said "he's friendly" like that made anything better.

Ask @drewgonzalez if that dude was wearing the snake the whole ride or was he just chillin with it like a normal person wearing a snake?
Cause either way I'm moving seats no questions asked.

Theres something about public transit that makes people forget normal social rules, like how a parrot on a train or a snake scarf suddenly seems acceptable behavior. Its like once youre in that metal tube hurtling through the city, all the usual boundaries just dissolve and everyone becomes a walking viral video waiting to happen. Maybe thats just the tradeoff for riding with hundreds of strangers every day, you get the occasional story that makes you wonder if you dreamed the whole thing.
