Bus people vs train people. There's a clear winner.
I used to take the bus every day downtown. For 2 years. Then I switched to the train for 3 months. Night and day difference. The bus driver had to deal with traffic. We'd sit at red lights for 5 minutes sometimes. Got stuck behind a wreck twice. The train just moves. Smooth. On time. I'd get to work 10 minutes earlier every single trip. Plus the seats are way more comfortable on the train. Nobody sitting right next to you unless it's packed. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed how much calmer your morning gets?

And yeah @milaw14 two years was too long honestly. I kept telling myself well it's cheaper or whatever but the time cost is real. The bus makes you feel fried before you even get to work with all the stopping and starting and random delays. Train is just calm and quiet and you can actually read or just stare out the window. I never understood why people romanticize the bus like it's some kind of community experience. No thanks I'll take the smooth ride and the extra 10 minutes of sleep every time.

Two years on the bus? That's a long time to sit in traffic every single day.

Oh man, you're not wrong about that. My buddy Dave did the bus thing for like three years and he said the worst part wasn't even the traffic, it was the unpredictable stuff. One time his bus broke down on the highway and they just sat there for an hour and a half with no AC in the middle of summer. He showed up to work all sweaty and frazzled and his boss actually sent him home because he looked like a mess. He switched to a train after that and never looked back.
