The 'display vs. play' debate hit me hard with my vintage Star Wars figures

I collected the original Kenner figures from 1977-1983 for years, keeping them sealed in bags thinking that was best. Then I found a beat up Boba Fett at a garage sale for 50 cents and let my nephew actually play with it. Now I'm torn between keeping the mint ones boxed up or pulling them out so they get some real life. Which side do you land on for toys from your collection?

Used to be all about keeping things sealed. Totally changed my mind after I found an old diecast car I had as a kid and let my niece play with it, seeing her smile made me realize what the point of a toy really is.

My cousin did the same thing with a sealed 1990s Ghostbusters figure I had stored away. Watched his kid chew on the proton pack and everything, and honestly I felt this weird sense of relief instead of panic. Like yeah, it's not mint anymore, but that kid's face was something else. Still hurts my collector soul a tiny bit though. Guess I'm just gonna keep telling myself it's "patina" now.
