Rant: my neighbor saw my 300 matchbooks and asked why I don't just use a lighter
He said "what's the point if they all do the same thing," and I didn't have a good answer then, but it's the 1972 campaign ones from that diner in Reno that closed, so now I'm wondering if anyone else keeps stuff that's useless but you can't toss it?
Get why that question bugs you so much. Some stuff you keep not because it works better but because of what it means. Those matchbooks are a piece of that diner, and when a place closes, that little stuff is all that's left. A lighter does the same job, sure, but it doesn't hold a memory. Tossing them would feel like throwing away the last bit of the place. Keep them.
