Three years ago my writing group hated my prompt about a locked room, last week it won

Back in March 2022 I posted a prompt to my local meetup in Portland about a librarian who finds a note inside a book that only appears when the library is empty, and everyone said it was too vague. Last week I cleaned out my old notebooks, found that same prompt, and sent it to a flash fiction contest on a whim. It placed second out of 40 entries, so now I'm wondering, do you ever give old prompts a second chance after they bomb the first time, or do you just trash em?

Old prompts just need time to marinate sometimes...
