My villain monologue idea died at 2am because I couldn't stop writing weather reports
Sat down Sunday night to write a villain's big reveal speech for a short story I'm working on. Got the first three lines down, they were actually good, then the villain started describing what the weather was like that day. Next thing I know it's 2am and I've written 900 words about rain on a parking lot and zero words of the speech. I deleted all of it out of anger and now the prompt is just sitting there mocking me. How do you all stop a character from hijacking a prompt like that?
