Watched a new guy in Houston try to eyeball the swing radius on a 250-tonner and it made me rethink my whole 'feel' approach.

I used to think experience beat a tape measure, but seeing him nearly clip a scaffold because he was 3 feet off convinced me to always double-check the math before moving anything heavy, so what's your go-to method for calculating swing clearance on a tight site?

Totally get that. I mean, I see it everywhere now, like people just winging a parallel park and taking out a mirror. Makes me double-check my own shortcuts.

My buddy tried to eyeball a deck build last month. He guessed the post depth and the whole thing shifted after a rain. Cost him way more to fix it than a tape measure would have.

Ever seen a guy try to eyeball a crane and almost take out a fence?
