Unpopular opinion: The 50 ton Grove is overrated for tight urban jobs

Last month I was running a 50 ton Grove on a tight street job in downtown Austin and honestly I'd rather have a 40 ton Liebherr with a shorter jib. The Grove's outriggers barely fit between the parked cars and I spent 45 minutes just repositioning. I know everyone loves them for highway work but has anyone else hit this problem squeezing into narrow city blocks?

Feels like you're making a mountain out of a molehill here... I've squeezed that Grove into some tight spots and it wasn't that bad once you get the hang of the outrigger spread. 45 minutes isn't that crazy for a downtown Austin setup with all the traffic and parked cars.

Did your buddy have to call a flatbed to get it out of there?

@carr.lee bet it took more than a flatbed, did they have to chainsaw that thing out of a ditch?
