Did anyone else go from zero shelf decor to full chaos, then back to almost nothing?

I used to pack every shelf with books, plants, and trinkets until it looked like a hoarder's den. After moving in March, I stripped it all down to just 6 books and a single mug, and honestly the empty space feels cozier to me now. Which side are you on, maximalist fill or bare minimum?

My buddy Dave went all in on the maximalist thing last year. He had like forty plants, a whole wall of action figures, and tiny statues everywhere you looked, even on the toilet tank. Then his cat knocked over a shelf and broke his grandma's old ceramic rooster, and he just snapped. He boxed up everything that same weekend, kept one plant and a lamp, and now he swears the bare room makes him sleep better. The funny part is he still buys little knickknacks but then hides them in a drawer instead of putting them out. He says it's his secret stash of chaos now, and the visible space stays clean.
