Can we talk about the lady at the Columbus library sale who fixed my whole shelf setup with one sentence
I was at the Friends of the Library sale in Columbus two Saturdays ago digging through the $1 paperbacks when an older lady pointed at my stack and asked if I stack books flat or standing up. I said flat, mostly, and she said flat stacks crush the spines and make the shelf look heavy, try standing them up with a little air behind them. Went home, pulled all 40 paperbacks off my shelf, stood them up with a small gap from the wall, and the whole corner instantly felt lighter and warmer. Also moved my little lamp from the top shelf to the middle and now the light hits the book spines instead of the ceiling. Anyone else get shelf advice from a total stranger that actually worked?
