Update: I gave up on time limits in Stardew and my farm is way better now
I spent my first 60 hours in Stardew treating every day like a speedrun, checking the wiki, and racing to bed by 6pm so I could get to the next day faster. Then my girlfriend watched me play and asked why I was stressed out during a game with no combat, and I honestly did not have an answer. For the past 2 weeks I have been playing with no goals at all, just fishing when I feel like it, wandering around, and letting my crops sit there if I get distracted. My farm looks messy and I am at year 3 with no greenhouse yet, but I actually look forward to opening the game now instead of dreading the checklist. Turns out the clock was the only thing making it feel like work. Does anyone else play with a loose schedule or do you all still min max everything?
Man I felt this in my soul, my first save file I was passing out at 2am every night trying to squeeze in one more thing and it just burned me out completely. Now I keep the wiki closed and just do whatever sounds fun that day, sometimes that's mining, sometimes it's just walking around town talking to people. My farm is ugly as sin but I actually want to play it again, so I'd say you figured out the secret.
