My mom told me I was ruining chili by adding pasta
She said it was more like goulash and that chili needs to be just meat and beans with tomato base. I switched over to serving the pasta on the side so people can add it if they want. Anyone else deal with a family member who has strong opinions on what belongs in a certain dish?

Man, totally get the "more like goulash" comment because I got the exact same thing when I tried adding macaroni to my chili. You're doing the right thing with the pasta on the side, it's a good compromise.

Had a buddy stir spaghetti right into his pot of chili once and his girlfriend called it "spaghetti surprise" for like a month straight. Pasta on the side is definitely the smarter play.
