My $15 desk lamp melted my cable tray, check your bulbs

I was in my home office in Austin last Tuesday, mid-zoom, when I smelled burning plastic. My cheap gooseneck lamp from Target was sitting too close to the cable management tray under my desk, and the 60w bulb heated it up enough to warp the plastic and melt the coating on two USB cables. I shut everything off, swapped to an LED bulb with a lower wattage, and moved the lamp to the side of the monitor stand. Has anyone else had heat damage from older lamps near their setup? What temp range do you guys keep your bulbs at?
