I ditched my desk lamp for a $12 clamp light from the hardware store, and my cozy nook suddenly felt like an office
I have been building up my little study corner in my apartment in Boise for about 7 weeks now, and the one thing I could not get right was the light. My old desk lamp cast this warm yellow glow that felt super cozy, but I was getting headaches after long reading sessions. On a whim I grabbed a cheap clamp light from the hardware store for $12, clipped it to the shelf above my desk, and pointed it at the wall instead of the desk. The result was this soft, even wash of light that killed the glare completely, and my headaches went away in like four days. But here is the debate in my head: the space looks way less cozy now because the light is bright and white instead of warm and dim, and I kind of miss that sleepy coffee shop vibe. So now I am stuck between a setup that feels good on my eyes and one that feels good in photos. Is anyone else team bright and functional over warm and moody, or am I just lighting my desk wrong? Would love to hear what has actually worked for your eyes and not just your Instagram.
