Thought cold brew needed fancy gear until a mason jar in my fridge proved me wrong
Let it sit 18 hours on the counter, strained it through a paper towel, and it beat the $6 cup I get near my office in Boise. Anyone else skipping the $40 maker and just using a jar, or am I missing something?
Watched a video about this last week where a barista said the 12 to 18 hour range is the sweet spot, and going longer just pulls out bitter stuff. Been doing the same jar thing for months now. I use a nut milk bag instead of paper towels though, way less mess and you can wring it out. My ratio is about 1 cup grounds to 4 cups water, sits overnight and it's ready by morning. Cheap and honestly better than most coffee shops around here.
